As a person who can’t stomach Childish Gambino as a rapper (his appearance on HBO’s GIRLS didn’t exactly help his case), I was surprised at myself for (1) pressing play and (2) liking the hell out of this song, a cover of one of my favorite R&B songs of all time.  Not too shabby, Mr. Glover.

Lorange 2

From the upcoming The Orchid Days album, producer L’Orange enlists the mic skills of Blu for this jazzy first single.

De La Soul

De La Soul’s being very generous of late.  Here, they give us some rhymes over some Dilla production in preparation for their Smell The D.A.I.S.Y. mixtape, produced entirely by the late great.

Mad Lion

Probably the hip-hoppest reggae I have ever heard in my life.  Mad Lion kills it on this classic track which could still get the party started to this day. Check for Fat Joe and KRS-One’s jean vest to make a cameo.

Turbz Music

I don’t mind EDM, as long as nobody’s trying to rap over it.  This is from Turbz Music’s The Beat Bangs, Vol. 1.

Lupe Fiasco, Lord of the Locked Twitter Account, drops a collaboration with Ab-Soul out of the clear blue.  Not sure how to feel about the pace of this one.

At long last, the homie Asi Frio (@ogsnobbyjohnson)returns to the game with a new single off his upcoming Player 99 project.  Check out his new site and download his three previous mixtapes.

Here, the guys from Cookin’ Soul offer up the instrumental version of Curren$y’s “Stove Top”.  Flows perfectly without vocals.
