[Vintage Goods] Hard Times (1971) :: Baby Huey

Baby Huey

This is easily one of my favorite songs of all time.  At 400 pounds, James Ramey aka “Baby Huey” unfortunately died of a heart attack before his debut album as frontman for the band Baby Huey & The Babysitters was released in 1971.  The LP, titled The Baby Huey Story: The Living Legend was produced by Curtis Mayfield and since Huey died while recording the album, some of the tracks are purely instrumental.  It is speculated that some of the tracks featured musicians other than The Babysitters because Mayfield wanted to originally sign Huey without his accompanying band.
